How to Discover a Process Name for a Specific Application
The Event Processing Rules allow you to create individual rules for specific applications. In Task Mining, these applications are handled by the name of their respective operating system process. As this name is usually different from the application name as it is shown in the Windows start menu or the title of the application window, it is quite hard to guess the correct process name. However, there is a simple way to get the correct process name for your application.
To get the name of a certain application, you can follow these steps:
Start the application
Start the Windows Task Manager
Expand the view by clicking the "more details" button, if not already expanded
Right-click on a column in the "Processes" tab and activate the "Process name" column (see screenshot), if not already shown
Use the name shown in the "Process name" column without the file ending ".exe"
Important
The process name is case-sensitive. You must use the exact name of the process, including the case, for the application to be captured in the processing rules.
