Celonis Apps for Power BI
The Celonis Apps for Power BI bridge the gap between deep process intelligence and daily business intelligence. By exporting Celonis’s advanced process mining capabilities directly into Power BI, organizations can empower their teams to monitor KPIs and take action within their existing reporting ecosystem.
Before beginning the installation, ensure your environment meets the following requirements:
Celonis Platform Access: An active Celonis Platform team with permissions to access the Knowledge Hub and Data Integration.
Power BI License: A Power BI Pro or Premium license is required to publish and share reports.
Power BI Desktop: The latest version of Power BI Desktop installed on your machine.
Permissions: The following permissions
Celonis Platform: "Admin" or "Edit" permissions for the relevant Space/Package.
Power BI: Permissions to install custom connectors and manage data sources.
Follow these steps to deploy the Celonis Apps within your Power BI environment:
Install the Celonis Connector:
Download the Celonis Connector for Power BI from the Celonis Marketplace.
Place the .mez file in your Power BI custom connectors folder (usually Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors).
Enable Custom Connectors:
In Power BI Desktop, go to File > Options and settings > Options > Security.
Under Data Extensions, select (Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation.
Deploy the Knowledge Model:
Navigate to the Celonis Studio and import the Order Management Starter Kit.
Ensure the Knowledge Model is published and the Data Model is fully loaded.
Connect the Power BI Template:
Open the provided .pbit (Power BI Template) file for your specific app (e.g., On-Time Delivery).
When prompted, enter your Celonis Team URL and API Key.
The first suite of apps focuses on Order Management, utilizing the Order Management Starter Kit to drive five specific use cases:
App Name | Primary Business Goal | Key Metrics |
|---|---|---|
On-Time Delivery | Improve delivery reliability and customer satisfaction. | Delay reasons, delivery dates, regional performance. |
Touchless Orders | Maximize labor productivity through automation. | Manual vs. Automated activity ratios. |
Order Rejections | Minimize lost revenue and unrealized business. | Rejection reasons, financial impact, revenue loss. |
Order Blocks | Streamline order flow by removing bottlenecks. | Block categories, affected order value, customer impact. |
Unbilled Orders | Optimize cash flow and revenue realization. | Unbilled value, country/material patterns. |
Each app consists of two core components:
Celonis Knowledge Model: Acts as the "Single Source of Truth," enriching raw data with business logic and PQL definitions.
Power BI Report Layer: A pre-configured reporting interface that connects directly to the Knowledge Model via the Celonis Connector.
Note
The integration utilizes mapping tables to write Celonis data into Power BI fields, including calculated columns and measures.
