Process Simulation - Scenario Simulation
Process Simulation in maintenance mode
Process Simulation is currently in maintenance mode. While existing simulations remain accessible, the creation of new Digital Twin Extractions may be limited. We recommend validating your current model configurations before running new simulation scenarios.
After publishing the Digital Twin from the Studio, the Simulation Dashboard appears inside the Apps.
It consists of several sections:
Digital Twin: This is the Digital Twin model as it was configured in the Digital Twin extraction
Simulated Scenarios: This lists all Scenarios that were created by the users. When clicking on “New Scenario”, a Simulation Scenario is created based on the Digital Twin, and the interface switches into the edit mode.
Outdated Scenarios: When the Digital Twin is updated and published in the Studio, the outdated Digital Twin and Scenarios are moved to the Outdated Scenarios. These Scenarios can still be re-run with different simulation parameters and the results can be viewed/compared. However, they cannot be modified anymore.
Side panel Scenario Configuration: Clicking on the Digital Twin or one of the Scenarios allows you to explore its parameters in the configuration on the side.
Run All Scenarios: Opens a modal that allows you to configure the simulation parameters (e.g. number of days to simulate). Will execute a simulation of the Digital Twin and all configured Simulation Scenarios. The results buttons will be displayed after successfully running the simulation.
Collections: This will open a list of existing Collections. A collection is a report, generated from one or multiple simulation results. You can view the saved comparison or share it from the three-dot menu.
The edit mode for a Simulation Scenario is opened either directly after creating the Scenario or can be opened through the context menu of the Scenario (three-dot menu -> Edit).
The steps presented in the wizard interface are basically the same as in the Digital Twin extraction wizard. Please see “Digital Twin extraction” for details of each section.
Note
The Filters step cannot be modified for a Simulation Scenario. However, you can still modify the process flow in your Scenarios by modifying the branching probabilities of the process (e.g. for removing a rework activity from the process).

Advanced
In contrary to the Digital Twin Extraction, there are no interdependencies when modifying attributes inside the Simulation Scenario creation. Updating the Processing Time of activity will not have an effect on the Enabling Times of edges with this given target Activity.
Clicking on “Run All Scenarios” opens a modal that allows you to configure the number of days that will be simulated. After specifying a number, click on “Run” and the simulation for the calculations for the Digital Twin and all Simulation Scenarios will be executed. If the simulation was successful, the “Results” buttons will appear in the list.
Note
We recommend setting a simulation duration that is at least one order of magnitude larger than the average throughput time of the simulated process. This ensures that the results are representative.

Advanced:
When adding or editing a scenario after running the simulation, you have the option to run a simulation for the scenario separately in order to save simulation time, but only with the same simulation duration. If you want to change the duration, you have to rerun all scenarios from the beginning.
