Configuring Actions in the Action Engine
Skills Deprecation
Effective August 1st 2025, Skills features can no longer be purchased as part of a Celonis Platform license. Celonis continues to maintain Skills (by fixing bugs and ensuring that performance remains strong) but no further feature development will take place.
To continue working with your process improvement and automation use cases, we suggest using our Action Flows, Views, and/or Orchestration Engine features.
The Actions section defines the specific operations available to a business user when they open a Signal in their My Inbox. These actions allow users to resolve issues directly within their source systems (like SAP) or gain deeper insights through Celonis Analyses.
To set up an action, you must first select one of the following types and then use dynamic placeholders from the Signal’s result table to prefill the required data (e.g., automatically inserting an invoice number into an SAP transaction).
Celonis: Execute Workflow – Launch multi-step automated workflows directly. See: Action - Celonis: Execute Workflow
Celonis: Open Analysis – Navigate to a specific Celonis Analysis in your cloud team for deeper investigation. See: Action - Celonis: Open Analysis
Email: Open Prefilled Draft – Generate an email draft with pre-defined text to quickly contact vendors, customers, or internal teams. See: Action - Email: Open prefilled draft
Pop-up: Display Information – Show a simple information window to the user. See: Action - Pop-up: Display information
SAP: Generate Transaction – Create a "Copy to Clipboard" SAP command prefilled with Signal parameters for use in the SAP transaction console. See: Action - SAP: Generate transaction
SAP WebGUI: Open Prefilled Transaction – Jump directly into a specific, prefilled transaction within the SAP WebGUI. See: Action - SAP WebGUI: Open prefilled transaction
URL: Open Link – Open any external web address in a new browser tab. See: Action - URL: Open link
Tip
Under the General configuration settings, you can automate status updates. For example, you can set a Signal to "In Progress" or "Snoozed" automatically as soon as the user executes an action.
Analysts can also customize how business users interact with Signal statuses through the following workflow options:
Mark As Resolved: Enable this to allow users to manually set a Signal to "Resolved." This is essential for tasks performed outside of the Action Engine that cannot be tracked automatically.
Delete: Control whether a user has the permission to delete a Signal. For audit-heavy or compliance-focused use cases, it is often best to keep this disabled.
