Setting up the Replication Cockpit - Prerequisites and setup checklist
Before you begin configuring the Replication Cockpit, you must ensure your SAP system, network environment, and Celonis platform meet the necessary prerequisites.
Use this guide to verify your system readiness and complete the pre-flight checklist before moving on to the installation steps.
The Replication Cockpit relies on specific SAP components and database configurations to capture real-time changes.
Supported SAP Systems: SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA.
Supported Databases: Your underlying SAP database must support database triggers (e.g., SAP HANA, Oracle, MS SQL). Note: Cluster tables (like BSEG) require special handling or replacement views.
Data Pool Architecture: Decide in advance whether you are using a Single Data Pool (supports Real-Time Transformations) or a Global Extraction Data Pool (for separated use cases). See [Architecture & Pipeline Design] for guidance.
You will need administrative access on both the SAP side and the Celonis side to complete this setup.
SAP environment
Your SAP Basis/Admin team will need to provide a user with the following authorizations to install the real-time extension and create the necessary RFC connection:
Transport Management: Ability to import the Celonis SAP transport requests (
STMS).RFC User Authorizations: The SAP user account designated for the Celonis connection must have the necessary authorization objects assigned (e.g.,
S_RFC,S_TABU_DIS,S_TABU_NAM).Developer Keys (Optional): Required only if custom ABAP modifications are necessary for your specific environment.
Celonis Platform
Your Celonis user account must have the following permissions:
Team Admin or Data Integration Admin rights to create and configure Data Connections and Data Pools.
Access to the target Data Pool where the real-time data will be stored.
Ensure all of the following items are completed or confirmed before proceeding to the configuration:
System Compatibility Verified: Confirmed that the SAP system and underlying database are supported.
Transports Downloaded: The latest Celonis SAP Real-Time Extension transport files have been downloaded from the Celonis standard delivery.
Architecture Decided: You have selected between a Single Data Pool or Global Data Pool setup.
SAP Authorizations Granted: The designated SAP RFC user has the correct authorization roles.
Celonis Permissions Confirmed: You are logged into Celonis with Data Integration Admin privileges.
Network Connectivity: Firewalls and proxies are configured to allow communication between your SAP environment and the Celonis Platform.
Next steps
Once you have checked off all the prerequisites above, you are ready to begin the technical implementation.
