Studio feature availability matrix
With the release of our enhanced Studio experience, you can now create and configure content using our enhanced Views, Legacy Views, and Analysis. While we recommend using our enhanced Views, you should consider your use case, the available feature set for each, and whether you have previously created content using that feature.
To help you identify whether to use Views, Legacy Views, or Analysis, we recommend reviewing both the feature available matrix and the below summaries:
Using Views
Views allow you to visually display your data within an app, giving app users an interactive dashboard to engage with. Views can be created using a drag and drop grid-based canvas, where you can visually place, size, and configure view components. This interface also includes features that help you to build screen-fit views, organize your data into tabs, and undo/redo when needed.
You should consider using Views when:
You’re new to the Celonis Platform and creating content for the first time.
You’re starting a new project or use case, one which wasn’t previously created using Legacy Views or Analysis.
You would like to use the latest feature set or updated View components.
You are able to transition across from Legacy Views without any detrimental impact to your package or the value that it brings.
You have identified View components or features that you would like to use that are only supported using Views (as opposed to Legacy Views or Analysis).
For more information about creating Views and configuring View components, see: Views.
Using Legacy Views
Legacy Views are those views created using the pre-May 2024 Studio feature set (previously referred to as the general availability feature set). Using Legacy Views, you can still visually display data within an app, giving app users an interactive dashboard to engage with. With Legacy Views, components are configured using YAML and this can take longer.
You should only continue using what are now referred to as Legacy Views when:
You’re using content installed from the Celonis Marketplace, which has been predominantly created using Legacy Views.
You have identified Legacy View components or features that you would like to use that are only supported using Legacy Views (as opposed to Views or Analysis). These include execution gap list, treemaps, world maps, and conditional layouts.
You have existing app content that is working for your use case and already adding value to your team.
For more information about Legacy Views and configuring Legacy View components, see: Legacy view components.
Using Analysis
An Analysis helps to identify execution gaps in your business processes. It lets you create a custom visualization of your as-is process and analyze the underlying data.
You should only continue using Analysis when:
You have configured an existing Analysis that is working for your use case and already adding value to your team.
For more information about creating and configuring Analysis, see: Analysis.

Embedded views
With embedded views being a heavily used feature in Legacy Views, there are a number of uses cases that can be solved using new Studio Views:
Use Case | Views | Information |
---|---|---|
Embedding view below tabs to avoid accidental deletion. | You can now use Undo / Redo features in Views, as well as tabs. | |
Exclude component or set of components from filtering. | You can now use 'exclude from filtering' in component settings. | |
Grouping components. | You can now use the container component. | |
Group filtering components in an embedded view that can be collapsed/expanded via a button. | You can now use the filterbar, see: Configuring a filter bar for your View. | |
Using different data sources (in the form of Knowledge Models) for different parts of the View. | You can now change the Knowledge Model for each component in the component settings menu. | |
Show set of components depending on user selection (conditional layouts). | List components updating containers is planned. | |
Reusing components. | Library features are planned. | |
Simultaneous editing of the same View | This is currently not planned, however we recommend creating a copy of the main View and then configuring your components in the copied View. These components can then be copied and pasted into the main View. |
