On-premise extractors
Celonis is officially transitioning away from the legacy SAP On-Premise Extractor (OPE) to our modern On-Premise Client (OPC) framework. This transition allows us to upgrade our infrastructure from legacy, key-based authentication to the secure, industry-standard OAuth protocol.
Technical support will end in early 2027. The exact date for this will be announced before the end of 2026 and include at least three months for migration.
Benefits of the OPC framework
Improved reliability and scalability: Cloud-based data processing makes the OPC service faster, more reliable, and highly scalable.
Simplified setup: You can use the same SAP connection for both data extraction and process automation, eliminating the need for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.
Automated cloud updates: After installing the client (which acts as a passive mediator and carries no logic), orchestration and processing are managed by a cloud service. This means that in most cases, updates or fixes are cloud-based and are run by Celonis.
What this means for you:
Continued access: Your existing OPE-based data pipelines will remain active and will continue to function. We aren’t shutting off your data flow.
Future end of technical support for OPE: Once the OPC version includes all of the OPE functionality, we will announce an end date for technical support, from which migration will become more important.
No active development: As of April 2026, we have discontinued ongoing development for all OPE-based data pipelines - we are focused only on addressing bug fixes and vulnerabilities.
Recommended action
To ensure your data flow remains fully supported and aligned with our latest security standards, we recommend planning and executing your migration to the modern On-Premise Client (OPC).
If you rely on specific capabilities currently being developed for migration, please be reassured that you will be provided necessary support and enablement to transition once those features are released
