Process Copilots

A Process Copilot is a Studio asset that you can set up in any package and connect to one of your Knowledge Models. Once set up, your Process Copilot allows you to interact conversationally with your Celonis data: asking questions, building graphs, looking for insights or viewing process flows. You can analyze your data by asking natural language questions or using the predefined prompts to get your response in a variety of formats.

An analyst user must set up your Process Copilot before it can be used. Set up includes defining what knowledge this Process Copilot will have access to within the selected Knowledge Models and resolving any Knowledge Model issues that could impact accuracy of your Process Copilot. You can set up multiple Process Copilots to work with different Knowledge Models or to focus on a different use case for your data.

Process Copilots can be used by any user in Apps and work within the scope of information set up by the analyst user to generate responses.

Managing Expectations

  • Your Process Copilot’s knowledge is scoped based on what the analyst sets up. It won’t be able to answer questions about knowledge or artifacts that are outside the scope of what was configured.

  • Unlike general AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Process Copilots cannot perform tasks outside its assigned scope, such as answering questions unrelated to your processes or accessing information not available in the provided data.

  • Mistakes in Process Copilot’s responses are possible so you are encouraged to always inspect the answers for accuracy. There is inherent uncertainty associated with all generative AI outputs both inside and outside of Celonis.

  • Unstructured Knowledge Models will impact the accuracy of your Process Copilot. When the data provided to this Process Copilot is incomplete or includes inconsistencies, it is a challenge for your knowledge to provide quality responses. Your Process Copilot will identify improvements within the Knowledge Model and we recommend that you act on these suggestions to achieve better results.

  • Process Copilot has been thoroughly tested by Celonis, due to the extensive amount of configurable options for customers, not all scenarios can be tested. If you encounter malfunctions or outputs with undesirable or adverse effects, please reach out to our support team by opening a related ticket.

  • The use of Process Copilot is optional. This feature can be deactivated at anytime by the customer’s admin.

  • No personal data is required to use for Process Copilot. Nevertheless, as customers are in full control of the data uploaded to our solution, personal data might be processed depending on the individual use case.

  • Process Copilot does not qualify as a high-risk AI system as defined in the EU AI Act and is not designed for or intended to be used for any purpose(s) specified in Article 6 of the EU AI Act or otherwise prohibited under the EU AI Act. Customers are solely responsible for implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that AI Features are not used for such purposes.

Prerequisites for using a Process Copilot

Note

Additional permissions for Process Copilot assets are currently in Private Preview. For more information, see Control analyst access to Process Copilots.

  • The Process Copilot asset has been activated.

  • A validated case-centric or object-centric Data Model.

  • A validated Knowledge Model.

  • User permissions required:

    • Analyst role with permissions to create and maintain a Studio package;

    • Member role to interact with a Process Copilot in a published Studio package.

Technical requirements

Several Process Copilot features utilize Server-Sent Events (SSE) via HTTP connections to ensure a seamless user experience. However, certain customer network configurations may not adequately support SSE connections, which can potentially lead to Process Copilot application failures. Common network configurations that might affect SSE include:

  • Blocking or limiting of the SSE protocol by the network perimeter;

  • Network devices attempting to perform TLS inspection of connections;

  • Proxy servers enforcing aggressive connection timeouts or disallowing streaming responses.

Celonis recommends that customers verify their network's capability to support full SSE connectivity. This includes addressing the issues above for user devices requiring access to Process Copilot within the *.celonis.cloud domain.

You have the option to control which analysts can access Process Copilot to view, edit, and activate them. When you request activation of this feature, we’ll remove access to Process Copilot for users with the Analyst role by default. You can enable access for the users or groups that you want in the Studio section of the Permissions pane in Admin & Settings.

Users without access can't see Process Copilot, and can't activate Process Copilot, though they can still publish a package that contains them. Users with the Admin role always have access to Process Copilot.
