Activating and configuring live data in Process Management

Limited availability

This functionality is currently in limited availability. If you’re interested in trying it out, get in touch with us at Celopeers.

About live data in Process Management

You can activate and configure live data in Process Designer at task and process level.

When live data has been activated and configured in Process Designer, its values will display in Process Navigator for the configured process if the Live data slider has been enabled by the Process Navigator user. If live data has not been configured in Process Designer, the Live data slider will not display in Process Navigator.

Note

You can currently use live data from the Celonis Platform only.

Live data prerequisites in Process Designer

To configure live data in Process Designer, you must:

  • Be a Process Management team admin.

  • Have a Celonis Platform license.

Activating and configuring live data in Process Designer
  1. In Process Designer, select Settings Settings button.

  2. In Configure, select Features.

    The Features screen appears.

  3. In Method: Live data feature, set Activation to Activated.

    Important

If you want to activate live data at task level, you must also set Method: Best Practice Tasks to Activated. If you can't see any live data provider options, contact Support.

  4. Configure data for:

    1. Applications.

    2. KPIs.

  5. Enable display of live data at task and/or process level.

Configuring live data for an application
  1. In the System facet, create a new application.

  2. In Live data provider, select your live data provider.

    Note

You can currently use live data from the Celonis Platform only.

  3. Release your system.

  4. If a previous valid version exists, set the state of your new version to Valid.

Your new version will now take precedence over any other versions.

Configuring live data for a KPI
  1. Create a new KPI.

  2. Set the KPI ID to the same value as the KPI ID in the Celonis Platform.

  3. In Details > Calculated in system, select the system which contains the live data provider you used when configuring your application.

  4. In Celonis EMS Attributes, enter the:

    1. Knowledge model key.

    2. Record ID.

    3. Record attribute.

    4. Date filter attribute (optional, default is EVENTTIME).

    Note

These values come from the Celonis Platform knowledge model used for your KPI. You only need to enter a value for the Record attribute if you're connecting a KPI to your task.

  5. Release your KPI.

  6. Check your configuration.

Displaying live data at task level
  1. Assign the KPI to a task within a process.

  2. Configure the Best Practice Task by setting its ID to the ActivityID in the Celonis Platform.

  3. Release the Best Practice Task.

  4. Connect the Best Practice Task to the task.

  5. Release the process.

Dispaying live data at process level
  1. Assign the KPI to a subprocess.

  2. Release the process and the subprocess.

Note

You don’t need to re-release the process if there are changes to the KPI or system.

Checking your live data configuration
  1. Select the task or process you assigned the KPI to.

  2. In the Detail content panel, navigate to Live data check and select Check.

If your configuration is correct, no warning or error messages will display. Any configuration issues will be flagged by warning or error messages indicating that your system or KPI isn’t connected or your Best Practice Task/system/KPI hasn’t been released.

  3. Where necessary, fix your configuration using the message information for guidance.

Live data limitations
  • Only one main KPI is permitted for each task or process.

  • Only one main KPI and three child KPIs will be displayed in Process Navigator.

  • The main KPI and child KPIs must have the same Celonis EMS attribute values.
